History of Winfield
The history of Winfield, Pennsylvania begins with the original inhabitants of this area, the Lenni Lenape. The Lenni Lenape were hunter-gatherers who migrated across North America and eventually settled in this region. On May 31, 1854 all the land around what is now Winfield was purchased by John Meehan, who named it after his son Winfield. He was the first settler but not the only one who settled in this area. Many more families joined him and they helped build their lives in Winfield, Pennsylvania.
