North Zanesville is home to Ohio's first Y bridge built by the Putnam Yankees in 1813 and constructed of wooden trestles and stone with logs and planks bolted. Located along the Muskingum River, there are many places to visit and activities to do. You can visit the Powelson Wildlife Area and the Alpacas of Spring Acres. While North Zanesville is a small rural town, many people visit to see the alpacas at Spring Acres. Spring Acres is located on 180 plus acres of beautiful rolling hills with a bed and breakfast, a small store, tours available and of course the 80 alpacas each with their own personality and interests. At the Powelson Wildlife Area you can see over 2000 acres of beautiful trees, plants, and other wildlife. What makes it so unique is that it once was a coal mine and has distinguished markings due to the previous mines. It is now protected by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and is considered a birding hotspot since you can easily spot up to 100 different types of birds. Since this town is special with its unique history and wildlife, we want to protect and restore what we can.
