Situated just north of Hamilton is the Village of New Miami. Once the site of Armco Steel the village is a small nit community of working class Americans. During the historical 1913 Flood most if not all of New Miami suffered catastrophic water damage as a result. This flood caused the loss of most properties and resulted in the unfortunate deaths of too many residents. The Miami Conservancy District has taken control of the river and its banks in an effort to prevent future flooding. The MCD along with local municipalities along the Great Miami River have all done a major part in reducing the water that enters the river and controlling what mother nature drops from above to help future water damages. Made up of volunteers the entire organization has a remarkable history of responding to the needs of the village. Policed by the Butler County Sheriff's department New Miami residents are able to rest easy knowing that help is always near by.
