We have two river beaches in our community, River Avenue and Maxson Avenue, both located at the end of their namesakes. River Avenue Beach offers a large swimming area, restrooms, picnic area, children’s playground, and sitting areas to view the river and watch the boaters, sailors, paddle boarders. Maxson Avenue Beach is adjacent to Riverfront Park and offers a swimming area, fishing pier, restrooms, children’s playground, and viewing areas. Need a cool treat to cool off after a day at the beach? Hoffman’s Ice Cream opened in 1955 and makes all their ice cream in house. This is the go to ice cream shop for both locals and visitors.

Beaver Dam Creek County Park has a boardwalk to walk through the tidal wetlands, seemingly miles from civilization. Perfect location to enjoy a picnic under the pavilion while the kids play on one of two playgrounds or play a sport on the six acres of playing fields, two tennis courts and a basketball court. There is also the Slade Dale Sanctuary, along Beaverdam Creek on the south side. It is an important part of our local ecosystem, and is home to a number of unique animals and plants. This waterfront preserve is a predominantly tidal marsh, which provides habitat for various birds, including osprey. Living shorelines are an alternative to hardened shoreline structures such a bulkheads and seawalls. Unlike hard structures, which impede the growth of plants and animals, these will grow over time and are now be used at the sanctuary.

We had a sewer clog which proceeded to come out of the downstairs bathroom shower drain and flood our bathroom hallway laundry room garage and bedroom with raw sewage. We called our insurance company and an adjuster was dispatched to our house in a timely fashion . Our insurance adjuster Sean recommended a few cleaning and restoration companies to contact. We decided to call Servpro. Jessica told us someone will be there in the morning. Roland Miller and Marvey Blanco arrived by 8:30 am. They told exactly what they would be doing and assured us everything will be alright. They did an exceptional job removing all the flooring and sanitizing the rooms and left equipment for drying and air quality and hauled away all the unsanitary debris. We highly recommend Servpro.
