Visit the Point Pleasant Historical Society on New Jersey Avenue to see many videos from our past including Morro Castle ship fire, the building of the inlet, local steam trains, a 1920s travelogue, and a prohibition era silent comedy, Mantoloking Moonshine. 

Our thriving downtown business district is bustling with premiere antique establishments, diverse shopping, and many options for dining from the traditional sausage sandwich to sushi. The annual Festival of the Sea is held here every September with over 250 craft vendors and dozens of local seafood restaurants. Many storms pass through our area yearly and, unfortunately, living here brings an increased risk of water, storm, flood and mold damage. Hurricane or “Superstorm Sandy”, damaged 42 percent of homes in October, 2012. The surge destroyed the northernmost section of our boardwalk and brought a blockade of sand, about a foot high, covered the width of Ocean Avenue.
