Point Pleasant Borough, located at the Jersey Shore, was once a logging town along with the majority of residents being farmers and boat builders. In the 1870’s, it started to become a destination for visitors with a 200-guest Resort House which has since burned down. Now we are a bustling, year round community of approximately 19,000 residents, with two elementary schools, a middle school and one high school. Our town is on the Barnegat Peninsula that divides the Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean at the Manasquan Inlet and is divided in half by the Point Pleasant canal that is connected by 2 bridges, Route 88 and Lovelandtown.
Our local parks are the place to visit and socialize in the warmer months. Riverfront Park has a beach can be a great spot for fishing and crabbing and has a walking pier and a pavilion with tables with grills. Community Park at the center of town on Bridge Avenue hosts free movie nights and special events during the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons. In the holiday season it hosts the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Market in the Park with local vendors, unique holiday items, food trucks and local performances. Looking for a place for outdoor sports? Heritage Park on Howe Street, at the Base of the Loveland Town Bridge, offers outdoor basketball, picnic area and playground and McKennan Lake Field on Route 88 offers baseball and soccer fields. There is also a Skate Park at in the North corner.
