Osbornsville is a small community at the Jersey Shore. We have only one elementary school for students grade K-5. We have one huge sports complex, Drum Point Sports Complex, and it has much to offer. There are soccer fields, walking trail, exercise stations. They host the Annual Trunk or Treat at Halloween. Local residents, businesses and organizations participate by decorating a vehicle and handing out treats to the children. Angela Hibbard Park was reopened in 2016 after an extensive renovation and now it has basketball courts, pickleball courts, two playgrounds, a walking/jogging path, picnic benches, an all-purpose field and two dog parks. There is also Shore Woods Bicycle Path that is a hiking area for biking, hiking, jogging or dog walking.
We have an abandoned airport that was known as Ocean County Airport, Osbornsville Airport, and Huppert Airport at different times. A 1940s-50s advertisement based at the airport offered “G.I. flight training,” passenger flights, charter service, sales and service, new and used panes for sale, plus aircraft and engine repairs. In 1954 the airport’s main hangar was engulfed in a mass of flames. The fire destroyed the hangar and ten planes. After the fire, the airport closed in 1959 and would be rebuilt for a housing development. Sky Manor Estates is where the airport was and has aviation-themed street names, such as Lockheed Road, Northrop Road, Boeing Drive, Pitcairn Road and Stinson Road. Brick Township’s Airport Tract contains more than 285 acres of undeveloped lands, and is home to a variety of native, threatened and endangered species.
Shore Acres Club offers two private bay front beaches to the Shore Acres Community located on Vanard Drive and Shore Drive. This club sits on Barnegat Bay was devastated by Hurricane or “Superstorm” Sandy.
