Mantoloking is a quiet, peaceful community with only a little under five hundred residents. Route 35 is the only road in and out. We have many activities that take place on or around our waterways. We have a marina on the Barnegat Bay that is well-known for its long tradition of sailboat racing and its highly regarded junior sailing program. Before there was the United States Coast Guard, there was the United States Life-Saving Service that was used to provide "surf boat, rockets, carronades and other necessary apparatus for the better preservation of life and property from shipwreck" but closed in 1937.

The summers here are sunny and hot on most days so we are very lucky to have Mantoloking Beach. This beach is a wide stretch of beach, beautiful dunes that has 13 access points. There is no boardwalk, rides or arcades here. Just the relaxing sound of crashing waves on the shoreline. There are three public access points bayside to view the bay and some offer a stunning views of the bay with the nearby bridge arching over the water.

For those of us that are year round residents, we know that we are prone to tropical storms, snowstorms, thunderstorms, and even the occasional hurricane or hailstorm. 2012 gave us “Superstorm Sandy” and we were hit extremely hard. The ocean breached the narrow barrier island in several places. Sandy literally cut the town in half. The storm wiped out many blocks of homes, and fire came too and destroyed many more. On the bay side, hundreds of homes were flooded. It was reported that the bridge had sustained severe damage, but luckily it just needed some repairs needed at the base.
