Claremont, New Hampshire is a small New England city, situated in the foothills of Mount Ascutney, along the Connecticut River.

Claremont has A commercial area centered on Washington Street. This is Claremont's primary commercial district. Along it, is City Hall, which was built in 1897 and houses the Claremont Opera house. The Opera House is a local treasure that has been providing entertainment to the Connecticut River Valley since the early 1900's.

Today the building houses city offices and performance space along with the Police Department, District Court and Claremont City Council chambers. The Opera House is now run by a board of Directors and still provides the public with a variety of regional, local and touring entertainment.
