In the 1890’s a railroad surveyor stabbed a stick into a cornfield saying, “This is where the depot will be.” and this is how the town began. It was a thriving town in 1937 according to the Covington Crossroads.  Today City Beautiful has been renewed for the promotion of both economic and community development. One thing that Mt. Olive loved was their football team! Steve McNair, a professional quarterback football player, helped the town by doing community work because he did it for the love of helping others. The town is small with small town values, guided growth and natural heritage which are a few core principles that make the town of Mount Olive a wonderful place to call home and “Our Place in Time”.
