The Pike County Courthouse, with its historic architecture, stands as a sentinel of the town’s enduring spirit. Another historic spot is the Magnolia Depot, located on E. Railroad Avenue. It is now on the National Register of Historic Places, designated a Mississippi Landmark.
This city loves the tradition of celebrating Mardi Gras, as every year there is a Parade and Festival with live performances from local talents. The community has recently created a new annual event, the fairly new Mardi Gras Ball. Besides Mardi Gras festivities, the locals gather for Halloween cookouts, with haunted houses, trick or treating, hayrides, cake walks, and good country BBQ. Later in the year, the town gathers for a Christmas Spectacular at the Magnolia Pavilion and also a Christmas parade for holiday cheer. The community also comes together for off season events, like Community Day, as people gather at City Hall for good, games, and backpack giveaways. This town is committed to supporting its local youth as they have another event called “Back to School Extravaganza”, where there’s vendors, entertainment, and school supply giveaways. The bonds here are strong and want to help minimize disruptions when things go wrong.
