The little city of Stanbury is a quiet town in north Missouri. With a total population of approximately 1,114 people there are not many strangers in their community. If they had a water damage or fire damage word would spread quickly. Everyone knows each other and runs into each other at the local pool, park or Gentry County Public library. They have a swimming pool complex. The pool offers swimming lessons locally as well as pool parties and season passes. Stanberry was established in 1879 when the railroad was extended to that point. The community was named for J. J. Stanberry, original owner of the town. A post office called Stanberry has been in operation since 1879. Eleven miles east is a neighboring center for gathering. The neighboring community center has a: fitness area, indoor walking track, basketball court, racquetball court, pickleball court and meeting room. There are a lot of options for such a small community and it's a great asset to have just a short drive away. The neighboring town has a fit trail located in the community park. There are several spaces for outdoor family fun including the local golf course. If you are interested in frogs, you should check out the frog pond at Silas Lee's Crazy Animal Park.
