History of Ladue, Missouri
Ladue started as a farming community in 1876. The community grew as time went on, and eventually, the agrarian part of the community slowly died off. Once automobiles became the primary mode of transportation (as opposed to horse and buggy), the farmers in Ladue began to sell off tracts of land to people who worked in the city but wished to live outside of the urban setting.
At the time, what is now Ladue, was actually three separate villages-- Village of LaDue, Village of Deer Creek, and Village of McKnight. In 1936, they merged to become Ladue, named after the wealthy entrepreneur Peter Alberty LaDue.
