History of Arnold
Arnold, Missouri's history goes back to 1872 when Zehnder and Larson purchased a tract of land from Otterbein College. The first settlers were people who arrived in the area by train, looking for opportunities in agriculture. The immediate area was best suited for tobacco farming, so many settlers came from Maryland and Virginia. This area eventually became known as Arnold, and was officially incorporated in 1879.
