Mooreville is an unincorporated community in Washtenaw County in the state of Michigan. Mooreville is located with York Township and as an unincorporated community, it has no legally defined boundaries.

Mooreville is about 3 miles northwest of Milan and about 8 miles south of Saline. The Saline River meanders through the community and they are served by Milan Area Schools.

When a fire or water damage affects their homes or businesses, they want it restored to preloss condition as soon as possible. That is why Mooreville residents call on SERVPRO's professional fire and water restoration technicians, who can arrive faster to any disaster and have the experience to do the job right.

Mooreville was established in 1826. The first recorded resident was John L. Moore, who came from New York state around 1830, which makes Mooreville one of the county's oldest settlements.

In 1838, after a second sawmill was built, the community furnished all the lumber for the buildings being built in Washtenaw County. Mooreville became an important stop along the stagecoach route that connected Adrian, Jackson and Detroit. By 1881, Mooreville was thriving and outpacing nearby Milan in prosperity. Mooreville contained a cheese factory, cider mill, a steam-powered sawmill, two general stores, five churches, several shops, a saloon, hotel and school.

However, in the 188o's the Toledo, Ann Arbor and North Michigan Railway and the Wabash Railroad began constructing railway lines through the area. The railway lines bypassed Mooreville in favor of Milan, which led to the decline of Mooreville and a surge of development and growth for Milan.

In 2021, the Moorevile Riverbend Preserve was inaugurated as an 11-acre nature reserve along the Saline River. The land was previously private property but was purchased by the township and the Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission. The park consists of a rustic parking lot and walking trail along the riverbend, and future plans include a small boat launch, paved parking lot, fishing deck and other amenities.

Mooreville could be called a victim of progress or circumstances, but the residents are content with the way things are, otherwise they would not have stayed in this small community.

The residents of Mooreville, know that SERVPRO's fire and water restoration technicians are the trusted choice by hundreds of insurance companies nationwide, and that they are just a phone call away 24/7 365!

What our
Mooreville customers are saying

Came out quickly and mitigated a basement water leak. They start pulling up flooring and ripping out drywall immediately. They break what they pull up/off so it can’t be reused. Would have liked more communication and care in the mitigation (example: Nails weren’t removed, they were hammered flat). They worked fast and had the equipment (dryers and fans) to really get ready to restore. I used my own contractors for the restoration.

ServPro staff were at our house to mitigate water damage from basement flooding that resulted from an error involving repair/ upgrade of the city storm sewer system. The staff who helped us with this unpleasant and upsetting experience were uniformly and consistently thoughtful, informative and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to help us address a couple of issues that arose because of the need to move and discard furniture and equipment. While the cause of our working with ServPro was not pleasant, working with ServPro staff was a bright spot in an otherwise grim experience.

Tim Richards

Servpro did a great job performing a dryout due to a water loss. Luis was particularly helpful in giving thorough explanations of the situation and how it was handled.

The crew was great. They kept me informed of what they were doing. They worked very hard. They put up with my crazy dog. They were like part of the household while they were here.
