Canton a family community with an urban lifestyle; evolving since 1785 as a plantation named Canton. Sold in the early 1900’s, The Canton Company broke ground with the idea of providing the waterfront industry and attract blue collared workers to settle.

Patterson Park, Canton’s Waterfront Park and Canton’s Dog Park were established as Canton grew. Historically Canton’s Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park in Baltimore since 2002. All these parks serve events throughout the year; such as Baltimore’s Annual Ukrainian-American Festival, Summer Concerts and Light Night Canton.

In the summer people soak up sun at local marinas which is prime spot to watch Baltimore’s Inner Harbor annual 4th of July Fireworks. The cooler months draw in crowds for holiday shopping at The Shops at Canton Crossing and Holiday Praise at St. Casimir’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church or The Episcopal Church on the Square. Anytime of the year you will find people visiting The Maryland Korean War Memorial, the Rehabilitated American Can Company, the Du Burns Soccer Arena and The Enoch Pratt Free Library which was Baltimore’s first library in operations since 1866.

Prior to Canton being what it is today, major renovations to the existing structures were required. Terracotta piping was used for water and aluminum wire with fuses for electric. Terracotta piping would crack over the years and cause damages within the home.
