Manson was founded on the Dubuque and Sioux City Railroad line in 1872. The population is 1,709 residents and growing. Manson is 7 miles from a great tourist lake called Twin Lakes. Twins Lakes consists of lakefront communities surrounding two lakes, North Twin Lake and South Twin Lake. The State Park occupies the surface area of the two lakes plus small portions of the shoreline. In 1979 a destructive F4 toranada killed three people and destroyed a large part of Manson. The tornado slowly made its way from northwest to southeast through Manson. Extreme damage was done to the central business district with 25 of the 35 business either destroyed or severely damaged. The middle school was also destroyed along with about 110 homes and 139 homes were damaged. The General Telephone Company exchange building for Manson was completely destroyed. Manson is located not far from the site of the Manson Crater that was formed by a meteorite collision that occurred 74 million years ago. The crater's existence was first discovered during an oil-drilling in the 1930s. The impact event was also theorized to have been the reason to led to the extinction of the dinosaurs, until tests were conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1991-1992 proving that it was too old by 9 million years to be the cause. The impact crater measured approximately 24 miles in diameter and the city of Manson is located near the center of the impact site explaining how its received its name.

I had a disaster in my home when a stainless steel hose burst under the sink in my upstairs bathroom. After a plumber was able to stop the water flow, I contacted Jerry at SERVPRO and he was at my home in minutes to survey the damage. He said he would have 4 or 5 of his workers come the next morning to start the process of restoration. That was exactly how the process started with all the equipment and fans before 9 am.
There was a problem with the water leaking through a light fixture onto a carpeted area. Jerry was on hand to explain the steps needed to start the fans and equipment. There was many items to be moved, so the guys carried some of the bigger items to the garage.
Jerry was very helpful and kind as I'm a widow with no family near me to help. What a nice crew for me to work with through this stressful situation They were all very courteous and caring. Also the office gals were always very helpful and kind.
SERVPRO of Fort Dodge helped us out and discovered water and 2 weeks after a different company originally came in. Thank you for coming to the rescue.
