Princeville is a 9,000-acre unincorporated area on the north shore of the island of Kauai. It is home to several world class hotels, condominiums, timeshares, restaurants, golf courses, and spectacular private houses. Princeville is bordered to the east by Kalihiwai, to the west by Hanalei, and to the north by the Pacific Ocean. It is the northernmost settlement in the state of Hawaii.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, the area was primarily used for agriculture. Initially coffee, then tobacco, and finally sugar. In 1860, while the landowner Robert Crichton Wyllie was entertaining the Hawaiian royal family, he dubbed the estate “Princeville,” after Crown Prince Albert. Toward the end of the 20^th Century the area quickly evolved into what it is today, a playground for vacationers, golfers, and beach combers.

Visitors can also enjoy nature by walking, biking, or running along the many paths in the area, such as Princeville’s main corridor or Princeville Path. Also, there are a few waterfalls at the nearby Namolokama Mountain which can be viewed seasonally.
