Kapaa – Kauai’s Most Charming Town

Kapaa is a Hawaiian word meaning "the solid one". It is formed from ka (the) and pa'a (solid). The historic beachside community of Old Kapaa Town on Kauai’s southeast shore sits in a wistful, sweet spot between the old and new. Known as an eclectic town with many historic old buildings, Kapaa still retains the charm of bygone days. Nowadays the old buildings along the main road are the home of a variety of small shops. A must-see tourist attraction is the Lydgate Farms Kauai Chocolates. It is run by a fifth-generation Kauai family. The farm has been recognized as producing one of the best tasting chocolates in the world by the Cocoa of Excellence Awards in Paris, France three times (2017, 2021, 2023).
