Hanalei is a small town on the north shore of Kauai, west of Princeville. Known for its crescent-shaped beach on Hanalei Bay and the Pine Trees surf area at Waioli Beach Park. At the foot of Hanalei’s misty green mountains, taro fields are aplenty. These heart-shaped plants grow intensely green in flooded patches of ground, and are used to make poi, a Hawaiian staple.

In 1957, the pier became world famous being featured the classic film, “South Pacific.” Hanalei Bay has been featured in many popular movies, including South Pacific, King Kong, and Jurassic Park.
