Lake Iamonia Cleanup and Restoration

Lake Iamonia, FL is a large, subtropical prairie body of water found in North Leon County. It is a popular fishing spot and offers paddling and highly sought after wildlife spotting opportunities as well. Lake Iamonia is located in the Red Hills Region and it is around 5757 acres in size- 7 miles long and 2 miles wide. The unique name comes from the Seminole Indian town that is located on the Ochlockonee River Banks. The lake is known to naturally empty itself during dry periods. 

The bottom of the lake is kept clean by gracious volunteers, county and state support. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission joined hands with FSU students and the Leon County Parks and Recreation groups to plan continued service over the area.
