Fort Irwin National Training Center (often called either Fort Irwin or Fort Irwin NTC) is a major training area for the United States military and is in the Mojave Desert in northern San Bernardino County, California, northeast of Barstow.

The National Training Center is part of the US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM). The opposing force at the National Training Center (NTC) is the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, the Blackhorse Cavalry, which is stationed at the base to provide an opposing force to units on a training rotation at Fort Irwin.

Fort Irwin works within the R-2502 Special Use Airspace Complex.

The history of Fort Irwin dates to the 1840s when the army patrolled the area to control horse stealing and other raids. In 1860, the army built Camp Bitter Springs overlooking Bitter Spring, which is part of what is now the Fort Irwin area.

In 1940, Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Mojave Anti-Aircraft Range, a military reservation of approximately 1,000 square miles in what is now Fort Irwin. The army renamed the camp Fort Irwin in 1942, in honor of Major General George LeRoy Irwin, commander of the 57th Field Artillery Brigade during World War I. Fort Irwin became part of the Desert Training Center for two years and then was deactivated due to surplus status. That meant it could be reactivated, which it was in 1951.

Military buildings, housing, and businesses that serve the base are all subject to disasters such as floods/storm/water damage, and fires. Damage can affect walls, roofs, flooring, carpets, upholstery, artwork, and even support beams. To mitigate your property from damage and prevent further destruction, call SERVPRO as soon as you can.
