Located in the southeast corner of Pulaski County, Wrightsville was an unincorporated community but in 1973, it was incorporated as a town and re-incorporated again in 1983 so that traditional city services could be provided to approximately 1,600 residents.

Known as a close-knit community, its residents share in the common theme of “Know your Neighbor as your Friend.”  The community provides robust programs for youth, families, and its elderly population.

The largest employer is the state Department of Correction Wrightsville Unit facility, which provides nearly 200 jobs for the community.  The correctional unit provides rehabilitation services, educational programs, substance abuse recovery, and other programs to help its population of 850 male and female inmates prepare for re-entry into the general population of the state.
