The city of Hartselle is located in the northern part of the state of Alabama in Morgan County. It is the second largest city in Morgan County, boasting more than 15,000 residents. The city of Hartselle was founded in 1870 by George Hartselle, and there are actually still descendants of Mr. Hartselle living in the city today. At its founding, Hartselle was considered a strategic location, being along both southern and northern parts of the Alabama Railroad. Having built its first postal facility in 1873, Hartselle became officially recognized, but was not chartered by the state until March of 1875.
With Hartselle being located in the northern part of Alabama, the city experiences both the smoldering heat of summer, as well as the frigid cold of winter.
