Cory Bates
Owner
Owner of our 12 franchises, has been with SERVPRO for 21 years. He began his professional career in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), operating throughout the Pacific and Indian Oceans and completing two tours in the Arabian Gulf. As an Aircraft Director on the ship’s flight deck, Cory was responsible for the safe and efficient launch and recovery of aircraft, managing the movement of people and equipment, and ensuring their combined safety.
After his honorable discharge, Cory returned home to study East Asian Language and Culture at the University of Kansas. He then embarked on a career in property restoration. Drawing from his training and experience in the high-stakes environment of an aircraft carrier’s flight deck, Cory has successfully built his business and managed complex projects. He takes pride in his team and their achievements, as the company has grown to become one of the largest and most respected operators in the SERVPRO system.
“Our goal has never been to be the biggest, but it has always been to be the very best,” Cory says. He is grateful that SERVPRO has given him the opportunity to engage with the community through various charities and local outreach programs, including Ronald McDonald House, Big Brothers Big Sisters KC, Kids TLC, Variety KC, and the Maranatha Family Worship Center.
Mike Hogan
GM and Part-Owner
As General Manager and part-owner of SERVPRO Team Bates/Hogan, Mike plays a critical role in leading daily operations, mentoring team members, and ensuring that every aspect of the business runs efficiently—from emergency response and restoration services to customer satisfaction and team development. What he enjoys most about his job is building strong relationships with his co-workers and helping them grow, both professionally and personally. Watching his team reach their full potential is one of the most rewarding parts of his leadership. Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending quality time outdoors with his wife and children, whether that’s hiking, fishing, or just enjoying nature together. Matthew Minshall
Director of Operations
Matthew oversees the company's operational activities to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to industry standards. This role involves managing daily operations, coordinating between different departments, and ensuring that projects, particularly in restoration and cleanup, are completed on time and within budget. They are responsible for developing and implementing operational policies and procedures, overseeing quality control, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. He enjoys the people and customers that he works with. Matthew has four children and enjoys fishing and doing art with them.
Joe Fife
Commercial Project Manager
Joe utilizes loss research to optimize response strategies and routines. By overseeing projects and commercial losses through their completion, he is able to continuously research, train, and implement best remediation practices among our trained employees.
He loves what he does because he knows the value of a routine and enjoys helping people and companies return to theirs.
Eric Secrist
Project Manager
With over 26 years of experience in the construction and restoration industry, Eric has risen from entry-level positions to senior management. Beginning with cleaning up construction sites and using early flood extraction methods, he has witnessed significant technological advancements and gained extensive management skills. He emphasize's the importance of motivating employees and ensuring their safety to achieve efficient and profitable operations. Eric's career achievements include owning and significantly growing a family construction business, starting and expanding a restoration franchise, and managing large-scale disaster recovery projects across the country. Highly qualified with numerous certifications, he has consistently improved gross profits in various divisions and has a strong understanding of building science and drying processes. Eric's military background and extensive professional affiliations further underscore's his leadership capabilities and commitment to excellence in the industry.
Daniel Hernandez
Project Manager
Daniel began his journey with SERVPRO Team Bates/Hogan five and a half years ago as a technician. Through hard work, dedication, and strong leadership, he quickly advanced to crew chief and now serves as a project manager. In his current role, Daniel helps customers through challenging situations with confidence, care, and expertise.
Outside of work, Daniel enjoys running—though he’ll tell you he doesn’t get to do it as often as he’d like. He still makes time for gaming, rocking out to his favorite music, trying new foods, and spending quality time with his family and his awesome nephews.
Dorian Gutierrez
Project Manager
Dorian has been a dedicated member of SERVPRO Team Bates/Hogan for the past four years. As a project manager, Dorian plays a vital role in coordinating restoration jobs from start to finish—ensuring each project runs smoothly and that customers feel supported every step of the way. His attention to detail, calm demeanor, and strong communication skills make him a trusted point of contact during difficult times.
Outside of work, Dorian enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for walks with his dog Bowie, playing tennis, or finding new adventures. He’s also passionate about salsa dancing and loves hanging out with friends and family whenever he gets the chance.
Jacob Liles
Project Manager
Before joining SERVPRO Team Bates/Hogan, I spent nine years as an Operations Manager at FedEx Ground, honing my skills in problem-solving, efficiency, and logistics. I then spent six years at Blast It Clean, specializing in industrial cleaning and abatement services, where I advanced from Field Team Member to Director of Operations. Through BIC’s partnership with SERVPRO, I gained firsthand experience with their high standards in safety, organization, and customer service.
I am OSHA 30 certified in Construction Safety and Health and hold insurance licenses in KS and MO. I’m also a Certified Law Enforcement Officer in Kansas and a proud member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife, Larissa, our seven children—Ezekiel, Vivian, Caleb, Noah, Desmond, Judah, and Rowan—and our Australian cattle dog, Penny.
Heather Bates
Director of HR
Heather joined the company as a volunteer. Her high engagement and ingenuity landed her in the role of HR Representative in flexing her interpersonal muscle, she facilitates communication and collaboration between the experts in our various departmental fields. In her high-impact role, she problem solves to create clear, positive solutions that affect employees and customers.
She promotes employee engagement and advancement by keeping the various departments current on new processes and events. We consider her the axel that keeps all of us spokes together and the wheel rolling towards our collective goals. When not here, she is often involved in some active and outdoorsy activities such as swimming, volleyball, and walking the dog.
Jennifer Duncan
Office Manager
Jennifer brings over six years of experience and leadership to her role at SERVPRO. Starting as a Receptionist, she quickly advanced through the ranks—serving as Job File Coordinator, Program Compliance Supervisor, and Compliance Manager—thanks to her deep knowledge of restoration services and third-party program guidelines. Jennifer holds an IICRC WRT Certification and leads with a strong foundation in compliance and team management.
Beyond the office, Jennifer is a dedicated mom of two and an active community volunteer. She’s spent nearly a decade as a Girl Scout leader and brings creativity to local retirement communities through arts and crafts. On weekends, you’ll often find her cheering on her kids at bowling tournaments or spending time in the kitchen with her family.
Kolbie Jacoby
Director of Sales and Marketing
Kolbie has been a dedicated member of the SERVPRO team since 2017, combining her passion for helping people with her expertise in restoring buildings and preventing business interruptions. With a background in hospitality management and a degree from Kansas State University, she brings a unique perspective to her role. Before joining SERVPRO, Kolbie spent five years as an event coordinator, where she developed a strong sense of empathy for her clients' needs. Starting as a Business Development Representative, she quickly advanced to Commercial Account Manager, and in 2022, she was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing. Now, she leads a team of 10 across four markets—Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, and Oklahoma—driving growth and scalability for the company. Outside of work, Kolbie is a proud wife to her husband John a financial advisor with Edward Jones and mom to their two year old daughter Collins.
Jeff Klein
Sales Account Manager
Jeff is a proud native of Liberty, Missouri, and joined SERVPRO Team Bates/Hogan in March 2022, bringing with him over a decade of experience in National Account sales for a major industrial supplier. At SERVPRO, Jeff plays a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships with commercial clients, leveraging his background in sales and customer service to support our mission of making it "Like it never even happened."
Jeff is not only a dedicated team member but also a devoted husband and proud #GirlDad to two amazing daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys RV adventures with his family, experimenting in the kitchen, spending time outdoors, and jamming on his bass guitar. He’s also the loving “dad” to a lively household of pets—including two wiener dogs, an Anatolian Shepherd, and a kitty.
Grace Woodbury
Sales Account Manager
Grace has been focused on building strong relationships and delivering customized solutions for the past year. Grace serves as a trusted point of contact for our clients—working closely with property managers, business owners, and community partners to ensure they’re prepared before disaster strikes and supported every step of the way if it does.
Her passion lies in truly understanding each client’s unique needs and providing proactive, reliable service that makes their lives easier. Whether it’s coordinating emergency response plans, facilitating clean-up and restoration efforts, or simply being a consistent resource, Grace is all about making a positive impact.
Outside of work, Grace enjoys spending quality time with her incredible friends and family, and she’s always up for a great conversation and new connections. Let’s connect and make great things happen together!
Dan Doty
Sales Account Manager
Bringing a strong background in commercial roofing and drywall to the restoration industry. Originally from northeast Ohio, Dan has called Kansas City home since 2008 and joined the SERVPRO team in January. His industry experience, combined with a genuine passion for helping others, makes him a reliable partner for property managers, facility directors, and commercial clients across the region.
As an Account Manager, Dan is focused on building trusted relationships and being a go-to resource for preparedness and recovery. Whether he’s helping clients develop emergency plans or coordinating a quick response after property damage, Dan is committed to making the restoration process smooth and stress-free.
Outside of work, Dan is an avid home cook and self-proclaimed grilled meat master. He’s known for feeding a crowd and often volunteers his time and culinary skills for community events and gatherings.
