Trusted Water Extraction and Structural Drying Specialists

From a small pipe leak to catastrophic flooding, water can damage the foundation, floors, and walls of your home or business, not to mention the belongings inside. And mold growth can begin in a couple days.

There’s not a minute to lose. Quick response can keep a bad, potentially hazardous situation from getting worse. At SERVPRO, water extraction (also known as water removal) is a key part of our water damage restoration process. Using powerful pumps and truck-mounted vacuum units, we can quickly remove hundreds or thousands of gallons of water.

From there, structural drying begins. Using the latest drying systems, from targeted heat to controlled airflow, we’ll make sure your property is dried to the industry standard to maintain structural stability and avoid further damage.

Why Water Extraction and Structural Drying?

Water extraction is exactly what it sounds like: removing excess water from your home or business after a water emergency like a flood, leak, or backup. Structural drying removes any excess, hidden moisture that has been absorbed by structural components throughout the home.  Water extraction and structural drying are essential to:

Prevent Mold Growth

Mold can start growing in just 24 to 48 hours. Once that growth begins, spores can spread quickly, leading to health risks and expensive cleanup and restoration.

Minimize Structural Damage

Standing water can weaken the structural integrity of your home or business. This can make your floors, walls, and ceilings warp, deteriorate, and even collapse. Structural repairs can be extremely expensive and disruptive.

Prevent Odors

Thoroughly drying your home after water damage will reduce the chances of unhealthy mold and mildew, along with the persistent musty smells that come with them.

Preserve Your Belongings

After a water-related event, your furniture, electronics, valuables, and important papers can be damaged or ruined. It’s important to get the contents of your home out of harm’s way.

My experience in dealing with SERVPRO of Torrance was very positive from start to finish. I was displaced, due to the Eaton Fire and my insurance company assigned this franchise to do the remediation. The team assigned to my project did a truly amazing job of cleaning my smoke damaged house. The team leader explained every aspect of the cleaning process to me in detail and answered all of my many questions. The office staff was very professional, well organized, extremely helpful and patient in guiding me through what was a complicated process and a new experience for me. In addition, they treated me with kindness and respect. I highly recommend this franchise!

The team at Servepro Torrance is incredible. From start to finish, the project was well managed, communication was great, and pricing was reasonable. I need to give a special shout-out to Jennilyn, who managed our project in the office, and Luis, who managed the job on site. They were kind, professional, and extremely helpful. I would recommend Servepro Torrance to anyone in need of these services.

ServPro of Torrance is fantastic! We were displaced due to the Eaton Fire and our house had quite a bit of smoke damage. The ServPro team came in and cleaned our house from top to bottom. They spent over a week cleaning every surface of our house and our belongings. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. Ricki, our head service tech, and Sabrina, our coordinator, were great! They explained everything and walked us through all the steps involved in the restoration. They never lost patience with us or our constant questions. They made an extremely stressful and overwhelming situation a bit more bearable. We put our house in their hands and they took care of everything, including coordinating attic insulation removal and replacement, and most importantly, dealing with our insurance adjuster! I really hope we never need restoration services again but if we do, I would definitely reach out to ServPro of Torrance. Thank you so much to Sabrina, Ricki, Philana, Jennilyn, and everyone at ServPro of Torrance!!!

As an HOA Manager, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many vendors over the years—but SERVPRO of Torrance continues to be a standout. They have been the primary remediation vendor for one of our largest communities—a 262-unit property in Playa Del Rey—for many years, and their performance has been nothing short of exceptional. SERVPRO consistently demonstrates a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and technical expertise. Whether the issue is water intrusion, mold remediation, or emergency response, they are always quick to act, communicate clearly with management and residents, and follow through until the job is done right. Their technicians are courteous and respectful, and they understand the sensitivities of working in a multi-residential setting. The trust and long-term relationship they’ve built with this community is a testament to their reliability and quality of work. SERVPRO of Torrance is an invaluable partner, and I would confidently recommend them to any HOA or property management firm looking for a dependable, experienced remediation team.

My parents had a fire in the garage due to a candle that burned into flames November of 2024 and Servpro got started right away! They put my parents stuff into storage and started cleaning up everything right away! Packed everything in boxes and even labeled them! Philana, was wonderful! She helped my mom a TON! Always was so great with communication!

Thanks, Philana, for helping us navigate through our water leak mitigation process. You were always available by phone (or called back quickly), even at times of the day/week I wouldn't expect. Our leak was right before the Christmas holiday so it was especially stressful. Philana's communication with the us and explanation of the process helped a lot.

We had a supply line burst in our upstairs bathroom and flooded the downstairs of our home. Reached out to SERVPRO and spoke with Jennilyn who was very caring of our needs from beginning to end. Andy and Luis came out to assist the water damage in our home. They were very knowledgeable, professional and took care of our home from the beginning to end. I highly recommend Servpro of Torrance.

I had a major water leak that damaged almost half of my house. We got linked up with Servpro of Torrance for the rebuild and repair. I was contacted by several reps from their team to start the process. They immediately started the work and were very prompt, professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I was kept in the loop at all times and that built confidence as we were facing a major overhaul we had not seen before. I would like to personally compliment Diko their PM and Philana, the front office manager who worked with me until the very end. After it was completed, I had a few follow-up items, and they made sure they attended to it even though the job was finished. I would give 5 stars and Kudos to the entire team for being so professional and helping us with restoration and rebuild of our house. Thank you so much Servpro of Torrance!

SERVPRO Water Extraction & Structural Drying Knowledge Center

What equipment does SERVPRO use for water extraction?

When it comes to water extraction, SERVPRO technicians have both the very latest and the tried-and-true at their disposal:

  • Moisture detectors, hygrometers, and other meters measure the extent of moisture saturation.
  • Infrared cameras find “hidden” water behind walls and ceilings.
  • Submersible and gas-powered pumps are used for continuous pumping of high-level water.
  • Truck-mounted and portable extraction units perform efficient water removal.
After water damage, how long does it take for mold to grow?

It’s important to begin water extraction and drying immediately, since mold growth can begin just 24-48 hours after water was introduced to your home.

What’s a sump pump and what does it do?

A sump pump is a mechanical pump, often placed in a basement or crawlspace, to remove water as it accumulates in a sump pit. As the water level rises, it trips a float switch, turns on the pump, and sends the excess water away from the structure. Sump pumps help keep your basement dry and protect your home from water damage.

How long does water extraction take?

In most residential cases, water extraction takes one to three days. It depends on factors such as:

  • The water source
  • The amount of water
  • How much of the home is affected
  • Affected materials in the home like carpet, furniture, and drywall
What drying equipment does SERVPRO use?

SERVPRO technicians use industrial-grade dehumidifiers to help prevent secondary water damage like swelling and warping of floors, walls, and furniture. They use high-speed air movers to create airflow across walls, carpets, pads, and furniture, in order to accelerate the evaporation of moisture. Moisture mapping is also used to locate hidden areas that need drying.

After water removal, how long does it take to dry out a home?

The drying process begins after standing water is removed. Drying typically takes three days to a week. But it can take longer, depending on:

  • Type of material: wood, drywall, and other porous materials soak up more moisture and take longer to dry.
  • Humidity levels: the higher the humidity, the longer the drying time.
  • Saturation level: If the home is heavily saturated, drying will take longer (giving mold a chance to grow).
Is structural drying needed after a small leak?

The amount of water you see may not be the entire picture. What’s important is not just the amount, but where the water went. A small amount of water that enters a wall, cabinetry, or flooring is often harder to detect and completely dry. Over time, that small amount of moisture can weaken the supporting materials in your home.

Should I open my windows to help with structural drying?

When the outside air is too humid, or the property needs to be kept secure, it’s best to keep the windows closed. In the case of a more humid area, such as Florida, opening windows might increase the drying time.
