Staying safe during the hurricane season starts with a simple step: Have a plan. Plans need to be worked out for all family members.
This plan includes figuring out how to determine whether it's safe to hunker down at home during a storm or whether you are in an evacuation zone. If so, there is likely a specific route you should take in the event of an evacuation. If you are in an evacuation zone, you also need to figure out accommodations during the storm, this could be anything from staying with family and friends to renting a motel to staying in a shelter.
Family members often have trouble reaching each other during hurricanes, so determining a preset meeting place and protocol can be helpful. Sometimes, local cellphone lines are overloaded during a storm, so consider texting. Another alternative is to have a central out-of-state contact who can relay messages between separated family members.

The company I work for experienced a massive water leak on a Saturday afternoon, which was not discovered until that evening. By that time, the water was so bad that it had leaked through the first floor and was raining onto the second floor. We were able to turn of the main water line but still had a couple inches of water on the second floor I called SERVPRO and spoke with Kevin who quickly got a team dispatched and to our facility within the hour. The team worked all Saturday night and all Sunday vacuuming up the excess water. During this very trying time, Kevin and his team, led by Brandon have been very accommodating trying to reduce the interruption in our work. Communication has been very good, we are not left wondering what is going on, what the next step is or what is needed. This is the second time we have used SERVPRO of North Huntsville and will not hesitate to use them again (hopefully we will not need to!)
Everything was spot on. I have to give a lot of credit to Rick for always explaining everything in a way I could understand. Very nice guy and always on time!

About Us
Steve graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree. He then traveled throughout the United States as an Industrial Hygiene Technician. A few years later he became a Biomedical Engineering Technologist specializing in performing calibrations, realignments, preventive maintenance and repairs on surgical lasers ensuring proper performance. Throughout the 90’s Steve became a Senior Field Service Engineer conducting indoor environmental assessments for all hospital and outpatient surgical suites within his assigned territory to establish indoor environmental compliance for safe levels of nitrous oxide using trace gas analysis.
In December of 1998 he bought SERVPRO of North Huntsville providing senior leadership guidance to all departments including technical services in Indoor Environmental Testing and Consulting, Water Damage Restoration and Fire/Smoke Damage Restoration for Commercial and Residential clients, Mold Remediation for Indoor and Crawlspace areas. Mr. Fairris was given the IICRC "Triple Master" designation in water damage, fire & smoke, and textiles, right before he recently celebrated 20 years with SERVPRO!
