How does ServprOXIDE work?

ServprOXIDE is a disinfectant that kills 99.999% of virus and bacteria cells when it comes in contact with these cells on hard and soft surfaces. COVID-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2. ServprOXIDE kills similar viruses and therefore can be used against SARS-CoV-2 when used in accordance with the directions for use against Canine Parvovirus on hard non-porous surfaces. How is ServprOXIDE different from other disinfectants on the market?

ServprOXIDE uses a unique chemical compound called chlorine dioxide. Chlorine dioxide has been used in defense against Anthrax attacks, to purify drinking water in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and most recently to kill MRSA in schools and hospitals. Also consider carefully what kind of chemicals you want around your children, employees, patients, students, and close family members.

ServprOXIDE also has the lowest toxicity rating given by the EPA. It is safe to use around pets (both cats and dogs) and children and infants.

Is ServprOXIDE a bleach?

No. ServprOXIDE’s active ingredient, chlorine dioxide is very different chemistry of chlorine bleach. The primary differences are chlorine dioxide is less caustic, safer and gentler than bleach and many other antiseptics and antimicrobials.

Is there a SERVPRO official way to clean?

Is this safe to use around children, babies, pets, elderly?

Yes. Because ServprOXIDE’s active ingredient has the lowest toxicity rating allowed by the EPA, it is safe to use around children, babies, pets (both cats and dogs) and the elderly.   This is approved for use in hospitals, schools and day cares as well as veterinary clinics.

Is this EPA registered?

Yes! ServprOXIDE is officially a registered disinfectant with the EPA, Registration # 82972-1-93012 and is on List N: disinfectants for Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Will this kill cold and flu virus germs?

ServprOXIDE kills and gets rid of 99.9% of cold viruses and flu viruses commonly found on hard and soft surfaces such as counters, tables, doorknobs, carpets, and bathroom fixtures.  It reduces the spread of germs on treated surfaces.

Will this kill food bacteria like salmonella and ecoli?

ServprOXIDE removes 99.9% of bacteria, including E. coli and Salmonella, without leaving a harmful chemical residue.

What are the active ingredients?

The active ingredient is chlorine dioxide.  This is not a chlorine bleach, even though chlorine is in the name of our active ingredient.  After the product disinfects surfaces it comes into contact with the product breaks down to a simple salt, producing no harmful by-products.

Chlorine dioxide has the lowest toxicity rating designated by the EPA and can be used on food surfaces as well as in and around pets (both cats and dogs), children and infants.

Do I need to use gloves when cleaning with ServprOxide or a mask to protect against harsh fumes?

While you do not need to wear gloves or face protection when using ServprOXIDE because the toxicity rating is so low, wearing gloves and face protection is a best practice. ServprOXIDE has a category 4 toxicity rating which is defined as have no exposure warnings required on the label with the exception of mild eye irritation.

How long does the product need to dwell on the surface I’m cleaning before I wipe it up?

Do I have to wipe down the surface after I spray it with ServprOxide or can I just spray it and let it dry on its own?

Does ServprOXIDE have a fragrance added to the product?

No fragrance is added to this product. However, the natural smell of the cleaning agents does leave the cleaned surface with a mild “clean” smell.

Will this stain soft surfaces like fabrics on chairs and banquets?

While rare, in some cases, ServprOXIDE can discolor certain fabrics including cotton clothing. It is recommended to always test for color fastness in a small inconspicuous spot before treating an entire article.
