California Wild Fires Cleanup and Restoration

Here to Help® and Ready to Respond

Strong winds and low relative humidity have caused wildfires to quickly erupt across California. Extended drought and high temperatures have led to drier than normal conditions across the area, further fueling the wildfires.

These wildfires are likely to cause fire and smoke destruction, as well as secondary water and soot damage, and our local SERVPRO Franchises are already in place and ready to respond. SERVPRO has a national network of over 1,700 Franchises across the country and designated Disaster Recovery Teams have been activated to assist local Franchises with cleanup.

Camp Fire

In Butte County, Northern California, the Camp Fire has destroyed more than 7,600 structures and has become the deadliest and most destructive on record in the State of California. According to Cal Fire, the fire was 35 percent contained as of November 14th and is hoped to be under control by the end of the month.

Woolsey Fire

In Southern California, the Santa Ana winds have fueled wildfires in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, including the areas of Malibu, Thousand Oaks, Oak Park and Bell Canyon. The Woolsey Fire has engulfed more than 70,000 acres, destroying at least 370 structures, claiming the lives of 2 civilians and injuring first responders.

Hill Fire

The Hill Fire is another dangerous blaze destroying acreage and structures in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties and is currently reported to be contained.

Overview

There are multiple, fast-moving wildfires active across California making the 2018 wildfire season one of the most destructive on record. To date, this California wildfire season has seen 7,580 fires and an area of 1,667,855 acres burned. In August 2018, Northern California was declared a national disaster. In November, winds increased fire susceptibility and caused another large round of wildfires.

These wildfires have surpassed 2017's damage in terms of acreage burned. Lives have been lost, thousands of homes have been destroyed or damaged and thousands more structures are threatened.

Firefighters continue to fight these fires aggressively and strategically. The State of California provides twice-daily updates and maps to help safeguard the people and property of California.
